Breathe in the Sky

This painting is 24″ x 24″ x 1.5″ on a gallery wrapped canvas. The sides are painted a natural black.

This painting is part of an ongoing series of works that I call “Hidden Wonders”. I began to experiment with ways of painting that utilize chance derived elements and found that fractal patterns could be organically created. As I gazed into the patterns I began to see a multitude of organic forms appear before my eyes. I began painting the spaces in-between the complex network of fractal patterns. Strange and surreal landscapes emerged as I let the patterns and forms derived by chance dictate to me the forms and content easily mimic an organic landscape or life form.
This painting reminds me of desert cliffs, sandy rocky terrain and clear blue skies. As the painting evolved the twisted forms and vivid blues of (what I envisioned as) the sky really seemed to bring life into this piece, so I decided to title it Breathe in the Sky.
