The Land that Time Forgot

This painting is part of an ongoing series of works that I call “Hidden Wonders”. I began to experiment with ways of painting that utilize chance derived elements and found that fractal patterns could be organically created. As I gazed into the patterns I began to see a multitude of organic forms appear before my eyes. I began painting the spaces in-between the complex network of fractal patterns. Strange and surreal landscapes emerged as I let the patterns and forms derived by chance dictate to me the forms and content easily mimic an organic landscape or life form.
This particular piece evolved into a strange and distant land, fiery red mountain ridges tremble and shake as volcanoes spew clouds of hot purple-grey gasses against a cerulean sky.
